Match Report V Menai Rd2 - Sat 17th April 2021

From the highs of winning our first game as Hammerheads we went on to suffer our first loss. It's was a tough old day at the office at Barden Ridge.

The boys were up for the challenge, but we were not up for the physicality of the contest with only a handful of boys putting their hands up and saying follow me.

After two quick tries from the opposition, we hit back with a beautiful try to our replacement winger Kailin, who finished a movement that started in our 22. Another nice try from a lineout drive saw us up by 2 at HT.

The timing of the half was not good for us, it gave the big Menai pack the breather they needed and they went to work in the second 40. It was a very spirited comeback from the boys, but Menai got the last laugh with a converted try on FT to win the physical contest 39-28.

We played some real positive brand of footy and will continue to, but we just lacked some punch. Nothing a few hard training won't fix. It's a long season and if we learn from our errors we will be alot better for it.

Players Player Points:

3 - Jessie Fay

2 - Muli (tied)

2 - DMO (tied)

Boat Race:

Burraneer Hammerheads (undefeated)

Next week we head back to Barden Ridge to host Merrylands who are fresh off an 87 point haul. Love to see as many faces up there as possible. This is a home game for us. The last one before we get to break in our new home at AR Hurst.
